This conference takes up the question of the migration of images, forms and ideas, accessing the metaphor "Bilderfahrzeuge", coined by the cultural theorist Aby Warburg (1866-1929). It is the first major opportunity for the international research group 'Bilderfahrzeuge. Aby Warburg's Legacy and the Future of Iconology' (www.bilderfahrzeuge.org) to introduce itself to a wider public and invite broad academic dialogue. Carefully-selected external speakers will present alongside the group's own members, to offer an insight into how the dynamic of individual research projects contributes to this larger question.
